Honoring Our Best

Honoring+Our+Best

On April 24, 2018, three distinguished faculty members of North Arlington High School were recognized at a dinner honoring district retirees and educators of the year. The event was sponsored by The North Arlington Education Foundation and The North Arlington Board of Education.

Business teacher, Patricia Tomko, was honored as educator of the year for North Arlington High School. Mrs. Tomko is certainly worthy of this recognition because her dedication and devotion  for teaching have touched the lives of countless students. She is also admired by both her colleagues and administrators precisely because of the passion that she has for education.

Special Education teacher, Katherine Kaufman, was honored as one of the district’s retirees. She has taught for 29 years and she too has always displayed a unique fervor for her profession. Mrs. Kaufman has warmed the hearts of thousands of students that had the privilege of having her as a teacher. She is known for being patient and nurturing in addition to her obvious expertise in the field. She will be greatly missed by students, colleagues and administrators.

Spanish teacher, Mary Murad, was also honored as a retiree. She taught her discipline for 32 years and constantly demonstrated her enthusiasm for teaching and reaching the minds of a plethora of students. Mrs. Murad too has influenced the life of students throughout three decades significantly. She is known for being caring and showing a singular passion for both the Spanish language and teaching. She will be immensely missed by students, colleagues and administrators as well.

We congratulate Mrs. Tomko for this recognition and wish nothing but the best of luck to our two retirees, Mrs. Kaufman and Mrs. Murad.
