Viking Family Aids One of Their Own

Arianna Hoyos is a student at North Arlington Middle School and has a younger sister in fifth grade at Jefferson Elementary School. Tragically, over the holiday break, Arianna was diagnosed with a type of Leukemia called Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia, or APML. Over the next 46 weeks she will be given treatments in the hospital and then outpatient treatment for the next 69 months at least.

As a way to help this family’s challenging situation, the Board of Education created a “GoFundMe” page for people in the community to donate and aid with their medical expenses. In 13 days, over 160 people were able to donate approximately $8,500 dollars, which is very close to the goal of $10k.

Recently, all proceeds from a dress down day at North Arlington High School were dedicated to Arianna’s family. As a whole, the school raised over $350 dollars. In no time, the Hoyos Family will have the money to assist with any extra treatments Arianna may need. Hopefully, she is in good as the Viking family is encouraging her on the journey to recovery.
