Viking Alumni Return

Viking Alumni Return

On Wednesday, November 23, the NAHS senior class had a special college preparation seminar that featured a number of familiar faces. The presentation was led entirely by various NAHS alumni from recent years, some of whom were here in school just last year. The purpose of the assembly was to allow former high school students to speak about their own experiences with college.

William Pimentel, of the class of 2016, spoke to the seniors about his memories of applying to college. He stressed the importance of keeping one’s options open throughout the decision making process, as a way of making the best choice possible. Sarah Palma, who graduated in 2015, gave students advice on the topic of transferring colleges. She recommended attending a college that pupils are certain they will be happy with, so as to avoid the sometimes frustrating transfer process.

After the presentation, the alumni were able to speak one-on-one with any students that had a personal question about college. Positive feedback from students could be heard for the rest of the day. “After hearing from seasoned college students, most of whom I know personally, I felt more prepared than ever to tackle the college application process”, said Danica Krawczyk, a current member of the senior class.

Special thanks to Mrs. Tomko and Mrs. Dembowski for organizing this successful event!
