Fordham Visit

Manhattan – known as, “The Capital of the World” is also the home of many different prestigious universities, including Fordham’s Lincoln Center Campus.

Fordham offers a wide variety of majors and minors, making it appealing to almost any student. Some eye opening majors and minors include: Anthropology, Human Studies, Sports Journalism, and Fashion Studies. The school also incorporates a Core Curriculum, similar to Columbia’s. For example, each student must take two different philosophy courses, two theology, and two natural science courses. The students are then able to explore their passion while dabbling in different studies that each student will be required to take. Additionally, the resources are endless in the heart of the city. Fordham specifically encourages students to take up an internship during their junior or senior year. Some famous internships have been Tommy Hilfiger, Marvel Comics, UNICEF, and the National Football League.

The Manhattan Campus is located in Lincoln Center, on the Upper West Side. Although the city is known for tall skyscrapers and pollution, surprisingly enough, Fordham’s campus has a huge rooftop garden that gives a traditional college feel. On my visit, I saw several students join in on a large game of Frisbee, have picnics, and finish assignments outside. Though it is only a five acre campus with four buildings, Fordham makes it easy to find a happy medium between campus life and city life.

Overall, Fordham is a perfect pick for a well-rounded student who’s engaged with his or her studies.
