Freshman for a Day

During the week of May 16, eighth-graders from North Arlington Middle School had the opportunity to experience high school life for a few hours! A new program implemented, called Freshman for a Day, gave the eighth-graders insight as to what high school life is like. Truly, this experience gave the soon to be high school students the chance to tour the building, sit through high school level classes, gain information about new rules, and much more. When they enter the doors for the 2016-2017 academic year, they should feel less anxious.

Entering high school can be a scary experience, so the peer mentors will be at hand to make the transition more delightful. These mentors will be meeting with the upcoming freshman class all year to ensure that they are having the best high school experience while keeping their grades up. On top of that, the freshmen have plenty of student mentors that they can go to for advice and support. When mentor Katelyn Stajek was asked about her thoughts on Freshman for a Day she stated, “It was really great for the middle school students to experience a day in NAHS. This is something that I would’ve liked to experience as an upcoming freshman.” The mentors are ready to help the new freshmen to feel comfortable and confident in the new atmosphere. North Arlington High School looks forward to welcoming the new freshmen in September.
