The North Arlington Vikings elected new student council officers on Wednesday, May 21st, during lunch periods A, B, and C. The student council, an organization that aims to bring events to the student body throughout the year, will be led by new officers this fall. Nine outstanding students ran for office: Abigail Zevallos and Cadence Mansfield for president; Charlize Torres, Bruce Cerdan, and Karina Martinez for vice-president; Adriana DaSilva and Jordan Singleton for treasurer; Dylan Santos uncontested for secretary, and Veronica Lopes, uncontested for event historian.
On May 20th, the candidates gave their speeches in the cafeteria after school to promote their platforms. Furthermore, the candidates campaigned before school in the cafeteria on election day, each with their own unique posters and campaign tactics. Results were announced shortly after the polls closed as the ballots were efficiently counted by other members of the student council, led by the club’s advisor, Ms. Salbashian.
The 2025-2026 student council executive board reads as follows: Abigail Zevallos as president, Charlize Torres as vice-president, Adriana DaSilva as treasurer, Dylan Santos as secretary, and Veronica Lopes as event historian. Each member of the all-senior executive board has served since their freshman year, and are involved in multiple other student organizations. The student council is sure to have a successful year under their impressive leadership. We look forward to their plans in the fall!
