“Band-ten-hut!” September 25th was North Arlington’s first marching band competition. The Marching Vikings won third place along with the Spirit Award.

The morning of competition, the Marching Vikings met at RIP Collins football field at 10 am. Band members practiced the show until 12 o’clock noon. They ran through their drill and fixed any mistakes. At 1:30 pm the band got on the bus and traveled  to Manahawkin, NJ for their first competition.

The Marching Vikings were the first band to perform for competition. After their performance, they waited in the bleachers until 8:00 pm for the award ceremony. Drum majors Gloria Perez, Marc Barbosa, and Kayla Fitzsimons, along with Color guard captains Paige Statfield and Pavneet Kaur went onto the field to receive the awards. But, before the judges announced the winners, all the bands went onto the football field and had a mini dance party. A fun moment was had by all before receiving the awards.

The Marching Vikings came in third place with a score of 71 out of 100. They also won the spirit award for traveling 92 miles to perform their show “The End Zone.”
