As per tradition, the first Thursday of December dawns a new era for the North Arlington chapter of the National Honor Society. Twenty one new members of the junior and senior classes were inducted (complete list of inductees below) as well as four senior officers. President Kelly Lennon, Vice President Daniel Antunes, Secretary George Mina, and Hunter Talone as treasurer joined the ranks of previous office holders.

Inductees went to the San Carlo in Lyndhurst for the ceremony along with teachers and much of the administration. The event went smoothly with speeches delivered by all four members of the executive board, Advisor Mrs. Kusher, Principal Mr. Mingoia, and District Superintendent Dr. Yurchak. The new members were then called up one by one to light their candle and recite the oath of the National Honor Society and pledge their allegiance to uphold the values of the society of exceptional character, community service, leadership, and academics.

Prior to the induction, all members voted to have a surprise honorary inductee – this year Biology teacher Mary Abdel-Messih accepted the award overcome with happiness and gratification. Lastly, to end the wonderful evening, members honored their parents by giving them a flower symbolizing the students’ gratitude for their commitment to them and their education.
