Ski Trip – Windham Mountain

Ski Trip - Windham Mountain

On February 10, 2016, after a two and a half hour drive, NAHS students reached the Windham Mountain Ski Resort in New York for the annual ski trip. Since it was being chaperoned by Mrs. Shaver and Mrs. Morin, students knew they’d be in for a fun time. Fifty students from all grades and 6 chaperones were welcomed to the resort, where they had the opportunity to learn how to ski or snowboard down a plethora of hills and mountains.

At the resort, the weather was perfect for the occasion, the temperature was cold, yet not annoyingly windy, and snow carpeted the ground. After suiting up, lessons began and those who thought that skiing or snowboarding was going to be easy were in for a surprise! Students were taught the basics such as how to put on skis and how to side-step and stop. When the instructors thought that students were ready, they were sent up the lift for the beginner hill.

Many had trouble at first with stopping and turning, but after falling a few times and getting the hang of things, everyone moved up to bigger hills. Junior, Allie Z. said, “Almost fell a few times, but skiing was fun!” Senior, Joanna Seca admitted, “Let’s just say the mountain won.”
