One of North Arlington’s newest teachers, Mr. Bruno, has already positively impacted many students. Mr. Bruno is the teacher in charge of some Global Studies, Introduction to Government, and U.S. History 1 classes. This is his first full year of teaching after being a student teacher in Hawthorne. He says one of his craziest teaching moments thus far happened in Hawthorne when two students were fighting outside of the classroom, “My observer asked me if the students outside were fighting and I was like ‘Yeah, I think so’ and the students in the room were asking if they could watch the fight.” Obviously, no one was let out of the classroom!
While attending Ramapo College, he majored in Psychology and History which allowed him to pursue his teaching career. In High School, he favored history above other subjects, which led him to want to teach it, as he believes “it’s important to know about the past and learn from it.” He wants to leave a lasting impression on his students about the benefits of knowing the past and to hopefully inspire them to further their learning career in the subject. His ultimate goal is to continue working towards getting a PhD in history. As for extracurricular activities, he played several instruments in the school marching band, most notably percussion. His hobbies include reading, specifically classic novels, and language learning. He has already learned a lot in Spanish and continues to do so with other languages.
In short, Mr. Bruno continues to strive for more experience in teaching and it seems like wherever his career takes him, students will grow to respect him and the subject.
