Julia Baggett is a senior at North Arlington High School. As she puts it, “I’m planning on attending a four-year school to study entomology or something in that vein like zoology or ecology”. Julia’s favorite subject is balanced between biology and ELA. Her interest in biology is shown through her college plans, while her interest in English is shown through her contributions to The Viking Saga. She has been involved in the club since her freshman year and wrote for the middle school’s paper before that. Julia believes that writing and literature is an essential and engaging skill.
Not only is Julia a part of the Viking Saga but the Environmental Club as well! Last year, she was president of the club and the first member of the Fly Fishing Club. Julia continues to spend her time working on various projects, bulletins, recycling drives, growing plants, announcing fun facts, and more. As someone who likes the outdoors, conservation, and environmental science, she is glad to be a part of her club.
In addition to the Viking Saga and Environmental Club, Julia wakes up every day at 7:00 am for band. Julia wakes up early so she can practice her music ahead of time. She is heavily involved in the music program being a member of the marching band for 4 years as well as leading the woodwind section. Besides marching band, Julia is involved with the jazz band and concert band as well. In December, she performed with Caldwell University for their Christmas concert. Julia has developed a strong passion for music since she started playing the clarinet in the fourth grade.
Outside of school, Julia enjoys going on walks, especially on nature and hiking trails. She also likes playing video games and reading books to relax. Most importantly, Julia values her friendships and family; appreciating the people in her life. Her goal is to be kind to everyone, regardless of who they are, “Empathy’s important and I think more people should exercise it”, she says.
Overall, Julia is a hard-working individual who is greatly supported and looked upon. North Arlington High School wishes her the best of luck!
