Hannah Herrmann

This past summer, one of our students, Hannah Herrmann, took a trip to Guatemala to help families in poverty build new homes through an organization called Houses to Homes. She went with her mother and another former student from NAHS. Before the trip, she learned that the government of Guatemala does not provide families in need with any financial aid. These children and their parents are left struggling to support themselves while simultaneously living in houses that were constructed poorly. Families are living without the basic necessities, and Hannah came to the rescue!

Her adventure wasn’t just all about building homes. She connected with the family she was supporting. Hannah states, “The people I met really inspired me. By the end of the trip they felt like family; it was so hard to leave!” Obviously, the connection must’ve been very powerful for Hannah to say that they felt like family. Hannah recommends this program to anyone that has the opportunity to travel abroad. When asked about how she felt, Hannah stated, “After all the hard work that went into building the house, I was just so happy to be able to give the family somewhere to call home.” Hannah truly embodies the spirit of being a kindhearted, selfless individual.  She is truly a role model for all NAHS students and beyond.
