Recently, North Arlington’s Spanish and Italian Honor Societies inducted new members. The event was a night to celebrate the hard work and dedication many students put in while learning a new language. The evening started with the Italian Honor Society introducing its new inductees.
Inductees read a few quotes from Leonardo Da Vinci and took their oath. Each student carried a candle which they lit from a universal one. The candle that lit all others represented the eternal burning light that the students will continue to express towards the language.
During the Spanish students’ induction, they followed a similar procedure. The inductees lit their candles and recited a poem while taking their oath to continue their devotion to the Spanish language. The night was filled with laughter and smiles!
Towards the end of the induction, each member of both honor societies gave a rose to a family member. The faces of mothers, fathers, and siblings lit up the room. Overall, the Spanish and Italian Honor Societies induction celebrated the proficiency of NAHS students in the World Language program. Congratulations to everyone who was inducted!
