Advice to Remember

On Friday September 25, 2015, prisoner, E-18165, visited North Arlington High School from Bergen County Jail to inform the students about the dangers of drug use and repercussions for both the consumers and dealers. Although it was the prisoner’s first time telling his story in a large public speaking forum, he touched upon a few very valuable topics. While being coached by his police escort, he told the students about how he started out with smaller drugs, such as marijuana, and moved up to more deadly prescription drugs like Percocet.

Somewhere in between chasing the high and selling other drugs to support his addiction, prisoner E-18165 was arrested for possession. In addition, he told the students about how he started out much like all of them, young and carefree, but reality soon set in and at a young age ruined his life. In a last effort to persuade students not to follow the same broken path he fell into, he answered many of the questions asked by students. The prisoner was then handcuffed and escorted out of the gymnasium, head held low with a serious expression – one that won’t soon be forgotten by the students and staff of NAHS.
