On Wednesday, October 30th, 2013 the majority of seniors, freshmen and juniors had a delayed opening due to the PSAT testing for sophomores and some members of the junior class. Students not testing had to report to the high school’s gymnasium by 10 am. Many were under the impression that waiting for their school day to begin would be a tedious task; however, they were truly surprised. As students and faculty strolled into the gym, they were greeted by members of the Student Council and countless expressions of excitement.
In order to occupy the time of students while waiting for first period bell, student council members and their advisor, Ms. Giampaolo, had several games prepared to entertain the crowd. Students and faculty members were asked to volunteer and participate in games such as: the oreo eating contest, the chewing gum target game and certainly one of the crowd’s favorites – the game where students tried to maintain a balloon and eventually two up in the air by using solely one hand.
What made all of these games exciting was the fact that all participants had one minute to demonstrate their talent. All of the victors got a sweet prize as a reward – a lollipop. Student council members and all of the participants need to be congratulated for a job well done! We would like to thank our principal, Mr. Manuppelli, for approving these special and enjoyable activities.
