The Giants had doubts going into the 2022-2023 season. They unexpectedly went 9-7-1, with new head coach Brian Daboll. They reached the playoffs and in the wild card game defeated number 3 seed the Minnesota Vikings. They lost in the divisional game losing to the first seed, Philadelphia Eagles. Daniel Jones and Saquan Barkley led the offense and looked even more promising coming into the 2023-2024 season. By adding Pro-bowler tight end Darren Waller through a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders, the Giants continued to build their team.
Daniel Jones got his 160-million dollar contract extension and re-signed Saquan. The Giants were all in to win this season by drafting rookie wide receiver Jalin Haytt in the first round to add to the offense. However, the giants have not had the start that the fans foresaw. Giants are currently 1-3. With Saquan being hurt it does not help the struggling Giants. Not scoring any points against the Dallas Cowboys 40-0, losing to the San Francisco 49ers 12-30, and losing to the Seattle Seahawks 24-3.
The Giants have been outscored 64-3 at home primetime games. Following the last blowout loss to the Seahawks, the fans booed the Giants off the field following their loss at MetLife. Coach Daboll expressed how he felt about being booed, “I’d be upset too if I was a fan,” via the official transcript.”There’s a lot of things we’ve got to do better, and that’s what we’ll try to do.” The Giants have not looked like their 2022-23 selves. Their passing game looking weak, giving no time for Daniel Jones to throw the ball. He was sacked 12 times in their latest loss, and not able to get that running game going with Saquan being hurt. There is trouble in the Meadowlands and the Giants are the problem.
