The wait has finally ended hockey fans! The 2017-2018 NHL season has begun. The New Jersey Devils have already gotten off to a red hot start as they have scored 10 goals in their first 2 games of the season. Many thought this would be a rebuilding year for the Devils but so far it has been quite the opposite. The New York Rangers are surprisingly sitting at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division and are searching for answers as to why their defense has completely collapsed. However, for these two rivals, the hockey season is quite long so there is still plenty of time to determine who will be the better team this year.

Perhaps the most surprising news in the NHL this year is the emergence of the sport’s newest expansion team, the Las Vegas Golden Knights. They are currently sitting atop the Pacific Division in the Western Conference and have fans throughout the league buzzing about their recent success. Can they be the team that will be the new face of the Western Conference? Can they possibly make a playoff run in their first season of existence? It is still too early to tell but they definitely look like a promising young team that will hang around with the top guns for years to come.
