NFL Super Bowl 51 Preview

The 2016-2017 NFL season is nearly over. There is just one thing left to be determined, the Super Bowl champions. The Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots square off in what should be a high-scoring affair. The Falcons enter this game with the number one offense in the league led by wide receivers Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu, quarterback and potential NFL MVP Matt Ryan, and running back Devonta Freeman. The Patriots, who seem to make the Super Bowl every other year, are led by none other than Tom Brady. For Brady, this is just another game and another chance to become the winningest quarterback in NFL history with a record-setting 5 Super Bowl championships. For Ryan, this is his chance to solidify himself as an elite quarterback and bring Atlanta its first Super Bowl championship ever.

In the NFC Championship game, the Green Bay Packers, led by red-hot quarterback Aaron Rodgers, were “running the table” and expected to win against the Falcons and punch their ticket to the Super Bowl. The Falcons, in their final game in the Georgia Dome, dismantled the Packers 44-21 and shattered the dreams of many Packers fans. The Patriots took care of business at home and beat the Steelers 36-17. For the Patriots, this is familiar territory. For the Falcons, these are uncharted waters. Will the Falcons pull off a miracle and upset the heavily favored Patriots or will the Patriots “do their job” as head coach Bill Belichick would say? We shall find out on February 5th.
