2016-17 NFL Playoff Picture

As we near the end of the regular season, the playoff talk commences. Some teams have secured their spots in the playoffs, some will fight until the last game of the season to make it, and others have been considered out for weeks and months. In the NFC bracket, the Cowboys are the clear frontrunners with a current record of 12-2, both defeats at the hands of the New York Giants. The Giants have come alive in recent weeks, escaping the criticism and skepticism they were receiving earlier in the season, and look like they will make a strong playoff push. The Green Bay Packers snuck back into the playoff discussion after winning their last 4 games and getting into the 6th seed. Earlier in the season, the Packers were 4-6 and stared at an early elimination from playoff contention.

The AFC bracket has started to take shape as well. It’s no surprise that the New England Patriots, Pittsburg Steelers, and Kansas City Chiefs made it into the top 6 playoff seeds. However, the other three teams, the Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans, and Miami Dolphins, have been turning many heads across the league with their surreal seasons. These three franchises have been mediocre or downright awful in recent memory and all of a sudden they’ve experienced a resurgence. It’s amazing what young talent and smart draft picks can get you in today’s sports world. While the playoff picture is far from being decided, we will keep watch on the upcoming matchups in these last 2 weeks.
