Teams across the MLB have made some noise in recent weeks. The New York Yankees resigned flame-throwing closer Aroldis Chapman to a 5-year, $86 million deal. This past season, Chapman was traded by the Yankees to the Chicago Cubs at the trade deadline. Chapman went on to win the World Series with the Cubs and has now rejoined the “Bronx Bombers” in New York. In the Midwest, the St. Louis Cardinals signed outfielder Dexter Fowler to an $80-90 million deal. Fowler also won the World Series with the Cubs this year.

Besides those deals, there are still some heavy hitters left on the board. Despite his name being thrown around on the market, it seems likely that Pittsburg Pirates centerfielder Andrew McCutchen will stay put. The Toronto Blue Jays could potentially lose their best players, designated hitter Edwin Encarnación and right fielder José Bautista, to free agency. Other notable free agents include Baltimore Orioles first baseman Mark Trumbo and catcher Matt Wieters, Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Justin Turner, and Cleveland Indians first baseman Mike Napoli. Wherever the free agents will land, we don’t know. However, whoever signs them will have some talent on their roster.
