NFL Draft

This is the moment every college football player waits for in his life – the NFL Draft. Leading into this year’s draft, the two biggest names on the board were California’s quarterback Jared Goff and North Dakota State’s quarterback Carson Wentz. With the first overall pick, the Los Angeles Rams selected Goff and with the second pick the Philadelphia Eagles selected Wentz. After those two picks, the San Diego Chargers were expected to take Ole’ Miss’ offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, but ended up taking Ohio State’s defensive end Joey Bosa. Due to a Twitter video that surfaced fifteen minutes before the draft, Tunsil fell or was dropped on many draft boards. Tunsil was eventually taken by the Miami Dolphins later in the first round.

With the fourth overall pick, the Dallas Cowboys took Ohio State’s running back Ezekiel Elliot. His running style is similar to former Cowboys running back and NFL rushing champion DeMarco Murray, which means he’ll provide a solid run game for Dallas. The New York Giants selected Ohio State’s cornerback Eli Apple with the tenth overall pick. He is expected to be the starting cornerback for the Giants after they parted ways with Prince Amukamara, who was a key contributor to that defense the past 5 seasons. Another interesting tidbit on the draft was that out of the first ten picks, three of the players chosen came from Ohio State. Ohio State’s head coach, Urban Meyer, should be proud of his former players. This year’s draft was undoubtedly the most shocking out of any others in recent history.
