MLB Spring Training

It’s that time of year again – Major League Baseball spring training. We can literally smell the fresh cut grass, roasted peanuts, and feel the warm sunshine on us. In the next month or so, we’ll be watching all 32 MLB teams take the field. Some teams come into spring training looking young, fresh, and exciting while others come in looking dull, old, and stale. Many teams have promising youngsters looking to make significant impacts in the big leagues this season or rise up in the farm system ranks and get noticed by other teams.

The Yankees have Aaron Judge and Jorge Mateo, two guys who have impressed this spring. Judge has power, overall strength and has been blasting home runs all throughout spring training. Yankees broadcaster, Michael Kay, even said, “When he hits the ball, it stays hit.” Mateo is a speed demon who can fly around the bases and is always a threat to steal a base.

The Chicago Cubs and New York Mets are coming back from impressive seasons in which they both went deep in the playoffs with contributions from every member of their teams. Both teams look healthy coming into this season. Even the Boston Red Sox have added key players to their team, the most significant being starting pitcher David Price who is coming back from a dominant season with the Blue Jays and Rays. As the year continues, we’ll see what teams separate themselves from the rest of the pack.
