The North Arlington boys’ varsity soccer team is off to an impressive start with six wins and only two losses. Four out of the six wins came by a difference of four or more goals including a 9-1 win over St. Mary’s, a 6-0 win over Paterson Charter, a 4-0 win over Becton, and a 7-1 win over Weehawken. The other two wins were hard fought with a 1-0 win over Wood-Ridge and a 2-1 win over Saddle Brook. The team prepared for the current season harder than any previous year in the offseason this summer in order to obtain the collective dream, which of course is a state sectional championship.
The team is made up of three sophomores, five juniors, and ten seniors. When asked to describe the soccer team, Coach Jesse Dembowski stated, “This year’s boys’ varsity soccer team is made up if an array of seniors that are able to display different strengths and tactics that help elevate the team’s performance”. The top goal scorer is Cristiano Neves with eight goals followed by Joseph Cappelluti with six goals. The leading assisters on the team include Vinicyus Ribeiro with seven assists and Cristiano Neves with three assists. The boys look to continue their tremendous form through the season in hopes of reaching their ultimate goal.
