The World Cup is just around the corner and many people around the globe are already celebrating because their countries have qualified. In Europe the countries who have already made it are Spain, Holland, England, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Bosnia, Russia, and Belgium. In Asia, Japan, Australia, South Korea, and Iran have qualified already as well. In South America, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador have made the cut and Brazil is automatically in the World Cup because they are the hosts this year. And last but not least, North America is sending Honduras, Costa Rica and the United States.
These countries are on the top of their qualification groups and are therefore automatically in the tournament, however second place teams will need to fight for their spots. To focus specifically on the United States, the national team manager Jürgen Klinsmann has been doing an incredible job. Despite losing major players due to injury, Klinsmann has brought the United States further into the competition. How much further we can go is anyone’s guess, but the form of the current squad will pose a challenge to anyone who faces the United States. With the talent of players such as Landon Donovan, Jozy Altidore and Graham Zusi, the US is a strong team. Until the World Cup in 2014, all these players have left to worry about is club competition.
