The girls track team has improved their record to 5-2 this season. The girls competed against Hasbrouck Heights, Saddle Brook, Immaculate Conception, St. Marys, Woodridge and Wallington this season. The girls had an upsetting loss against Wallington during their first meet of the season. The girls came back the following week defeating St. Marys 109-1. The North Arlington girls track team also defeated Saddle Brook, Immaculate Conception and Woodridge.
The dual meets are over but now the girls competed on May 8th in the annual Bergen County League Meet. This year the girls took 3rd overall behind Hasbrouck Heights and Wallington. Both teams were a competition for all girls in both running and throwing. Although the team didn’t place first and second, many of the girls took first and second in their individual events.
The biggest contributor of the team, Cristina Nardini, took 1st in two events and 3rd in her other two events. Captain Mackenzie Cutruzzula took a 2nd, 4th, and two 6th places. Kali Orovio, who was the team’s undefeated high jumper this season, took 2nd overall at the league meet. Coach Fash said, “I am very happy with how much effort I saw these girls put into this meet.” North Arlington has some of the top runners and throwers in the league. Captain Mackenzie Cutruzzula said, “I’m proud that all the girls gave their all and didn’t give up until the end of their events.” Now some of the girls will go on and compete in counties and states for individual medals.
