This year marks North Arlington High School’s first ever crew team, which is coached by Fabian Cortes. While other new teams, such as this year’s swim team, are partnered with Lyndhurst High School, the crew team is made up of solely North Arlington students. The team will use boats provided by the Passaic River Rowing Association, and they are scheduled to officially start their season on March 1st. Many of the athletes have already taken advantage of winter training and are excited to start competing in regattas. Make sure you check out their athletic schedule and come out to one of their races!
Crew Weekly Update
NAHS’ crew team is approaching the official start of their spring athletic season. With winter sports coming to a close, the team has seen an increase in members. To accommodate such a large showing – approximately 25 students – the school has bought the team two new model D ergs, and a third should be on its way. An erg is a machine used on land to simulate the technique used while rowing. Teammate senior Amy Lin is quoted as saying, “I can’t wait to be on the river in a boat and practice rowing with my teammates.”
