During winter break this year both the girls and boys varsity basketball teams competed in the annual William Ferguson Christmas tournament. The tournament took place at North Arlington High School and included 4 teams in both girls and boys division.
On the first day for the girls, Queen of Peace played Glen Rock and won. The NAHS girls played Bergen Art and Science and won 50-22. The finals consisted of the Queen of Peace girls vs. NAHS girls. The North Arlington varsity girls took the victory over Queen of Peace 47 to 41. Captains Mackenzie Cutruzzula and Katie Rouski said, “We’re very proud of all the girls on the team and that all of the hard work pays off.” Mackenzie and junior Brianna Cunanan won MVP awards that night.
The varsity boys also made it to the final round and played Montclair Academy. The boys won the tournament and have kept their undefeated record of 4-0. Junior Thai Scott said, “I love my team and it feels great to have won the tournament and also being titled undefeated as of now.” Thai and Angelo Nocciolo received MVP awards as well. This is the first year, in many years, that both Varsity teams won. Well done Vikings!
