As the sun comes out, the temperature rises, and the days get longer, nature reveals more. During the months of April, May, and June, nature prevails. Flowers begin to bloom, insects begin to spread, and people go outside.
During the warm month of June, there are various types of beautiful flowers. The Japanese Water Iris is considered to be the most beautiful flower. The Iris is found at water’s edges, and blooms with white and purple flowers that are darker in the center. The next show-stopping flower is the Waterlily. The Waterlily is an alluring pink flower that sits on a lily pad. Similarly, the Sacred Lotus is another flower with cream petals and pink tips. Opposite to beauty, the Bee Balm flowers bloom. This flower is small, spikey, and red. Although it is unpleasant to look at, it is a great source of pollen for pollinators. This flower is used to soothe bee stings and help with a wide range of digestive issues. Other flowers include the Balloon Flower, Julia Child Rose, Pincushion flower, Magnolia, and many more.
While flowers are special to the human eye, insects are just as much. Some insects have shown their presence, like bees, wasps, ants, and ladybugs. These insects have begun their jobs in the ecosystem. Bugs that are more common in June include Ticks, Beetles, Dragonflies, and, hated the most, Mosquitoes. June entails a sharp increase in Tick incidents, occurring especially in grassy areas. Ticks can carry Lyme Disease and other diseases. To prevent this, wearing bug spray and occasional checks for ticks is recommended. June Beetles do not pose harm to humans as Ticks do. Although they can damage yards by chewing on wood, destroying grass, and attracting unwanted insects. Dragonflies are often found near bodies of water. They are not harmful to people, but rather help them by eating Mosquitoes. Mosquitoes bite humans and animals for blood, which hurts humans and causes them to be irritated and unhappy with the red bump on their skin. Even though insects can be annoying, their benefits to nature are important.
Throughout the month of June, keep an eye out for the delightful flowers blooming and small insects crawling!
