North Arlington is breaking ground on new redevelopment houses. These townhouses will be built on Schuyler Avenue and will be made up of six one-family townhouses. The structure will consist of two buildings known as “Townhomes at Canterbury.” This project is being done by Mountain Way Development Co. of Fairfield, New Jersey. They started planning on January 16, 2025.
Mayor Pronti has spoken on the matter and has said, “This project is the latest in our ongoing efforts to bring quality redevelopment to North Arlington…this one-acre site, which sits directly across from a residential neighborhood, has been an eyesore that we have been eager to address.” He has also stated, “After many back and forth proposals between our Redevelopment Agency and the developer, this project is being transformed into an extension of the residential neighborhood. We did not feel comfortable with an apartment building at this location and knowing the community doesn’t want to see trucks, gravel, and construction equipment from their windows, residents will soon see well-manicured lawns and well-designed, attractive homes. We could not be more pleased.”
There is much anticipation for these townhouse developments. Pete Rizzuto, a partner at Mountain Way Development Co., has said that the townhouses should sell for the mid-uppers $700,000. Construction will begin once warmer weather arrives. It is expected that people will be able to start moving in during late summer.
