IPhones are one of the most well known devices in America, and one thing that makes Apple’s IPhone unique is the charger. Apple has used lightning ports on their phones since the introduction of the IPhone 5 in 2013, but this could change in the near future with new EU Legislation.

The European Union has made a law stating that all phones regardless of the manufacturer must switch to USB-C charging ports by the end of 2024 and laptops by 2026. This law might only be affecting European Union member states; however, it makes sense for companies such as Apple to make all changes in their products globally.

This change will make it more convenient for the consumer to charge all devices using the same port. It is a possibility that by 2024 all charging USB – C ports will be universal.
