Vikings Take On the Consumer Bowl

Vikings Take On the Consumer Bowl

On Monday, February 8th, a small group of junior and senior students from NAHS attended a jeopardy-like competition called the Bergen County Consumer Bowl at the Hackensack Municipal building.  Joe O’Dowd, Cheyenne McDermott, George Mina, Hunter Talone, and Desiree Loyola were quizzed on their knowledge of consumer affairs and competed against other Consumer Bowl teams.

Commandeered by our own Mrs. Turner, the team from NAHS finished the competition by placing second out of three teams in round one and fourth out of nine teams in round two. Participants demonstrate their knowledge on topics such as identity theft and asset management.

With the use of microphones and buzzers, the team members did their best to fight for the championship. The students admit it was a challenge due to the fierce competition. George Mina said of the exciting day, “I think we went into the Consumer Bowl not really knowing what to expect, as it was our first year in attendance. However, we did well and it was definitely a valuable experience.” We as a school are extremely proud of our Vikings and how well they represented North Arlington High School.  We are looking forward to an even stronger finish next year!
