Financial Aid Night

On October 6, 2015, North Arlington High School hosted a Financial Aid Night for the parents of upperclassmen students. This informative night helped parents obtain a better understanding of the tuition prices of college and how their children can apply for financial aid, if applicable. Since there is more than one type of financial aid that a student can apply for, the presenters broke down several variations. For example, merit-based financial aid is for students who have excellent academic grades, a special talent, or excel in a sport. On the other hand, need-based opportunities are for students who may have financial considerations.

From the perspective of a parent who attended the night, my mother deemed it to be informative, helpful, and interesting. The presenters told the audience how to apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online and frequently asked the audience if they had any questions or concerns. Overall, it was a successful night for the parents. When going through the college process with their children, now it will be easier because they have the crucial background information on financial aid.
