Hayden’s Heart is a foundation created to honor Hayden Dorsett. Hayden was born with a rare heart defect called HLHS, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. He went through three open heart surgeries, and through his surgical process he suffered a brain injury. Still he was always a very happy smiley baby. On August 16, 2012 at 5 months old Hayden passed away. The foundation was made to raise awareness and help parents with the medical bills.
Members of SADD, Students Against Destructive Decisions, collected money to donate to this fund during the second week of March. On Saturday, March 9, there was a 5k walk for Hayden’s Heart Foundation. We had a great turn out with plenty of people regardless of all the snow and cold. Being a volunteer and seeing the amount of people who came out to support this cause, whether it was running or walking with their families and pets, touched my heart. The North Arlington community really went all out for Hayden’s foundation and showed lots of love and support.
