As we know, each year we have several opportunities to get out and vote. Voting is crucial because it’s when citizens exercise their right to elect public officials into office. North Arlington high school encourages seniors who are 18 years old to go out and vote every chance they get. Seniors who are 18 can vote and make a big difference in our town, state and country. So far, only 13 students from our high school are registered to vote.
Mrs. Sharon O’Brien Romer is in charge of urging students to fill out a voter’s registration form and vote this year. When asked about the importance of voting to her, she stated “Extremely
important because it allows me to have a voice in our government and to contribute to democracy. It’s also important at this age because people can voice their opinion, and the elected officials will make an impact in our lives.”
Voting is free. N. A. H. S. asks all students to register to vote as soon as they turn 18. The people we elect will affect our lives greatly. Remember that every vote counts!
