Gone Girl, a novel written by Gillian Flynn, is a fast paced thrill ride that will have you up all night reading, because you want to find out what happens next! The basis of the novel is that Nick Dunne’s wife, Amy, goes missing on their fifth wedding anniversary. Throughout the novel, the chapters alternate: one chapter will be present day Nick Dunne, and the following chapter will be a diary entry that Amy composed a few years ago, leading up to her disappearance. When Nick takes this case to the police, they’re just as perplexed as he is. Was Amy kidnapped? Did somebody murder her? If so, did Nick commit the crime? Many questions will be running through your brain as you read this book, which makes reading this book a pleasure. Every chapter, the plot deepens, gets more intricate, and more enticing. As you read, you will keep saying to yourself, “I will read just one more chapter”, but you wind up reading for another two hours!
This novel is perfect for you if you like nail-biting suspense, plot twists, and surprising revelations. Take it from somebody who devoured this novel in a week! This psychological thriller will have you keep guessing until the very end, and the climax won’t disappoint. It’s very hard to write about this book without giving away major plot details, so the only advice I have for you is to read it! By the end of the novel, you will want to pick the book back up and start reading it again from the beginning. The movie adaptation was also stellar and is still in theaters.
