One of North Arlington’s popular class and program is Chorus. Many students find this chorus fun and exciting as they get to express themselves through music. This year the chorus has a total of 130 students. Ms. Corcoran’s number one goal for this year is “To build the ability of singers by teaching them better vocal technique.” She has high hopes for this year and plans to accomplish her goal.
The number of students taking chorus has once again increased significantly this school year. Many students who are involved in chorus also have a tendency of joining the drama club. In last year’s play, two of Ms. Corcoran’s students, Michael Antonelli and Megan Namnama, had lead roles in Footloose. When asked what he enjoys the most about chorus, Michael Antonelli said, “After all the practice we do, the thing I enjoy most is how the song sounds with everyone singing in unison.”
The chorus is also involved in many events. All of Ms. Corcoran’s students come together and sing at the town’s tree lighting. Some of her students also sing at the Senior center around Christmas to bring joy to others. Their biggest event every year is the winter concert. The chorus practices enthusiastically every week hoping that all Vikings show their constant support and help them celebrate the joy of music.
