Another year, another volleyball season. Our own North Arlington Girls’ Volleyball team has kicked off with yet another exciting start this September. Both the Varsity and Junior Varsity opened the season with an away game against Harrison. Led by Coach Dwyer and Coach Cap, the two teams have made their way through their games with unmatched determination and a genuine love for the sport. With JV’s almost perfect win-loss record, they’re showing great promise for the program’s future.
As for recent games, the home game against Dwight Englewood came to an unfortunate end before it started. Due to safety concerns about the court, Dwight Englewood deemed it unsafe to use, and the game is to be rescheduled for the near future. This left the players and audience crestfallen after more than an hour-long delay until the decision was made. Despite this setback, the teams brushed past it, “In volleyball, it’s not about how hard you fall- it’s about how high you bounce back,” said one of the players.
The following day, the Ridgefield Girls’ team showed up, and it was quite the intense match to see. Unfortunately, Varsity lost after an extremely close and stressful game. With the combined effort of everyone on the team, they managed to narrow the gap to the best of their ability, but to no avail.
On the bright side, JV added another win to the ever-growing list. The team played their best on the court in a back-and-forth match. By the time it was done, tensions ran high on both the court and in the audience as North Arlington finished with a final score of 25-22.
As stated last year, this generation of volleyball players is continuing to progress smoothly and is on track to do so next season.
