The Boys’ Varsity Soccer team season ended with an unfortunate loss to Glenn Ridge in the quarter-finals of the state tournament despite playing with 100% heart the whole game. However, the team ended with a 15 win and 5 loss record. The top 2 scorers were Cristiano Neves with 26 goals and Joseph Cappelluti with 17 goals. The top 2 assisters were Vinny Ribeiro with 15 assists and Cristiano Neves with 9 assists.
There were also many individual accolades and awards to be distributed throughout the team this year. To start off with the highest award for the team, Cristiano Neves was placed on 3rd team all-county and 1st team all-league. Nick Awad, who captained the team throughout the season, received 1st team all-league as well. Vinny Ribeiro received 1st team all-league and the honor to play in the all-star game. Joseph Cappelluti earned his spot on second team all-league. It is important to note that none of these awards would even be possible without the help and support of each individual on the team.
It is sad to say goodbye to a team of 14 seniors but the Vikings hope to have an equally as good season next year. Everyone has large shoes to fill but with hard work and dedication, there is no stopping Boys’ Varsity Soccer for a few years.
