The most wonderful time of year they call it. Christmas lights are put up, trees are being decorated and kids are sending their lists to Santa. It can either be one of the best holidays or one of the worst. The good aspects of it are family get-togethers, lots of holiday food and of course presents. The negative aspects of Christmas are endless money spending, difficult shopping and cold weather. If you ask children why they like Christmas most are going to answer because of the presents. That same response should not be given by adolescents and adults alike. Christmas is about much more than just presents.
The true meaning of Christmas is showing how much you care about the people you love. It shouldn’t be about who gets the newest iPhone or iPad. It shouldn’t matter if you spend a thousand dollars or no money at all. Gifts aren’t what Christmas is about – gifts are only supposed to be a kind gesture you show to the people you love. The people you love should be grateful for simply your love and not be angry because you didn’t get them something new and expensive.
Our generation does not realize what the true meaning of Christmas actually should be. Hopefully, we can change the way we have viewed this special holiday and make it the happiest time of the year for the right reasons. This year try and spend less on gifts and more on the love you have for your families. Family is the one thing you can’t change; you are born into a family or maybe adopted into one or accepted. Either way, be sure to show all of your loved ones you truly care this season. Have a Merry Christmas!
