Baseball Season is in Full Swing

Can you smell the fresh-cut grass and roasted peanuts and feel the warm sunshine? It’s that time of year again, baseball is back. All 30 MLB teams took the field at the tail-end of February to showcase their young talents and veteran favorites in exhibition games. Some teams look to take big strides this year while others are looking to continue their dominant reigns. Many successful teams like the Indians, Blue Jays, Royals, Cubs, and Dodgers are the expected favorites heading into this season. Others like the Yankees, Astros, and Mets are trying to become contenders by inviting many of their draft picks and young stars to spring training, hoping they will make an impression.

We’ve only gotten through a few spring training games and already some teams are separating themselves from the rest of the pack. The Yankees have seemed to find the fountain of youth with many of their “Baby Bombers”, most notably Aaron Judge, whose power, speed, and size make opposing pitchers shake in their boots. The Cleveland Indians, who acquired Blue Jays slugger Edwin Encarnacion in the offseason, look to avenge their devastating World Series collapse last season. In Chicago, the Cubs are looking to repeat their championship run while the White Sox are trying to build a team that can dethrone their crosstown rivals. In Los Angeles, the Dodgers are still searching for their first World Series championship since 1988 and have made the playoffs the past 4 seasons. It’s only spring training so we can’t say which teams will come out swinging but for now, we can just sit back, relax, and watch America’s pastime.
